Venue & Accomodations

Oleron Island is a beautiful island off the west coast of France two hours north of Bordeaux by car. It is connected to the mainland by a bridge and crossed by a network of bike pathes. It has many pine forests, dunes and sandy beaches like La Brée-les-Bains. Fishing ports line its coast, such as the popular port of La Cotinière in the main town of Saint-Pierre d'Oléron . The Château d'Oleron, a town famous for its oysters, is home to the citadel, a huge fortress at the seafront.

The conference will be held at the vacation center La Vieille Perrotine (https://www.caes.cnrs.fr/sejours/la-vieille-perrotine/). Free bus transfer will be organized from the Bordeaux train station to the island on Monday (departure 10:30) and from the island back to Bordeaux on Thursday (departure at 13:00, arrival at Bordeaux train station around 15:00).
